User Settings & Notifications

Control how you receive alerts for tasks, notes, guest messages, and system events. Configure notifications for yourself or (as an admin) for other staff members.

Accessing Notification Settings

For Yourself

  1. Click your name in the top right

  2. Select My Profile

  3. Scroll to Notification Settings

For Other Users (Admin Only)

  1. Go to Admin > Users

  2. Find the user and click Edit

  3. Scroll to Notification Settings

Configuring Settings

Global Settings

Toggle notifications for specific categories:

  • Guest messages

  • Tasks assigned to you

  • Tasks in your department

  • Notes mentioning you


Mobile App Settings

Notifications also depend on your device settings:

iOS

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone

  2. Scroll to HelloShift

  3. Tap Notifications

  4. Enable Allow Notifications

Android

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Apps > HelloShift

  3. Tap Notifications

  4. Enable notifications


Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Notifications?

  1. Check HelloShift settings: Verify notifications are enabled in your profile

  2. Check device settings: Ensure HelloShift has notification permission

  3. You won't be notified about your own actions: This is by design

  4. Try reinstalling: Accept the notification prompt during installation

  5. Contact support: Provide the specific note/task you didn't receive

Too Many Notifications?

  1. Disable categories you don't need

  2. Switch email to daily digest

  3. Set quiet hours for off-duty times

  4. Ask admin to adjust your role-based notifications


Best Practices

  1. Enable push for urgent items: Guest messages, assigned tasks

  2. Use email digest for awareness: Department activity, reports

  3. Set quiet hours: Prevent after-hours interruptions

  4. Review periodically: Adjust as your role evolves
