Searching in HelloShift
Find any guest, reservation, room, task, conversation or wiki page from one search box, on your computer or your phone.
One search box finds guests, reservations, rooms, tasks, conversations, wiki pages, teammates, tags and snippets. Results appear as you type, small typos in guest names are forgiven, and search works in the HelloShift app on your phone too.
Where to search
On a computer: the Search box sits at the top of every page. Press / on your keyboard from anywhere to jump into it.
On your phone: tap the magnifying glass in the app's header.
Results show up in a dropdown while you type, grouped by kind. Click a result to open it, or click See all results (or press Enter) for the full results page.
Click into the empty box to see your Recent searches. Remove one with Remove or all of them with Clear recent searches. Recent searches are cleared when you log out, so a shared front-desk computer doesn't show the next person what you looked up.
What you can find
Sections always appear in the same order, so you learn where to look. When you type only a number, such as 214, Rooms and Reservations move to the top.
The results page
The results page has a tab for each kind: All, Guests, Conversations, Tasks, Reservations, Rooms and Wiki. All shows the top matches of every kind, with a link to view all matches in each section.
On the Conversations and Tasks tabs you can also sort by Relevance or Time and pick a date range, then click Apply.
Search tips
These work when searching tasks, conversations and wiki pages:
Finding older conversations and tasks
Conversation and task results come from the last 2 years, and the page says so. To look further back, click Search all time: results then cover everything and are listed newest first.
If you pick a date range, search uses your range instead. A range wider than 2 years is listed newest first.
FAQ
What does "Some results are unavailable right now" mean?
One kind of result took too long to load, so search showed everything else rather than making you wait. Click Retry to try again.
Does search include my other properties?
No. Search covers the property you are working in. Switch properties to search another one.
Why didn't a misspelled word find my task?
Typo tolerance applies to guest names. For tasks and conversations, try fewer letters: because the last word matches as a prefix, refri finds refrigerator even if you are unsure of the spelling.
